The Cotes de Tablas comes only from Tablas Creek's own vineyards. Here the Grenache dominates in the cuvée, along with Syrah, Counoise and Mourvedre. It thus tends towards the southern Rhône in terms of taste, the full body with the soft tannins is complemented by the spiciness and minerality of the Syrah, the appealing wildness of the Counoise and the structure and power of the Mourvèdre.
The 2015 vintage of the Côtes de Tablas unusually has almost as much Syrah in the blend as Grenache and also quite a lot of Counoise. This vintage therefore took a little more time to find itself, but is now beautifully balanced thanks to its bottle maturity and is also equipped with a lot of depth and substance.
