Château Reverdi in the Listrac-Médoc has become a real insider tip in recent years. It goes back to the quality initiative of Audrey and Mathieu Thomas, who produce top wines on their 32 hectare vineyards. They were twice under the best 12 Chateau in the coupe des Cru Bourgeois (more than 200 Châteaux) with the vinteges 2014-2016. Chateau Reverdi is certainly one of the cheapest among these top-quality wines.
The wine is usually aged for 12 months in barriques, of which a quarter are new. Unusual here is the high proportion of the Petit Verdot vine of about 10%, the Thomas family recognized early on the potential of this not easy to handle grape, which must be regarded as a winner of climate change. Due to the high proportion of calcareous loamy soil, it has a high Merlotanteil of about 50%. Even in small vintages, the Chateau Reverdi matures effortlessly 10 years, in very good years like 2015, of course, significantly more is possible.
