The great 2016 vintage in Montalcino also produced very ripe grapes at the more traditionally producing Pietroso Winery, resulting in an unusually rich Brunello that hides the tannins that are present very well.
The wine was stored for 36 months in the large wooden barrels made of Slavonian oak, which represent the traditional production method in Montalcino. The magazine Falstaff awarded this great wine from the outstanding 2016 vintage 93/100 points, while Wine Enthusiast even rated it 95/100.
Quote from Falstaff: "Bright, elegant ruby red. On the nose, it smells of fresh berries, wild berries, cherries, also briefly of violets, pomegranate, subtle spicy notes. On the palate, robust and elegant, spreads out slowly and in many layers, with pressure and salt, long."
