Château de Camensac was added in 1855 to the prestigious circle of the Grand Cru Classé ot the Médoc, a privilege granted only to a few wineries of the AOC Haut-Médoc whitch shows the outstanding quality potential. Since 2005, Jean Merlaut and Céline Villars-Foubet have been responsible for the estate and have changed the style of the wine to softness and silk tannins. The 75 hectares of vineyards are planted with only two grape varieties; 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. As a rule, 50% new barriques are used for the Grand Vin.
The vintage 2014 at Camensac consists of equal parts Cabernet and Merlot, which further emphasizes the already charming style of wine. The wine shows an intense fruit, aromas such as vanilla and cherries, as well as a hint of pepper. The palate is gentle, with extract and good body, the tannins are well-matured. One of the best Camensac vintages of the last decades.
