The Vin Jaune is the highest level and the individual wine style in the Jura. The Chateau-Chalon is a designation of origin for Vin Jaune from the commune of the same name. It is considered the very best AOP among these "yellow wines". It shows oxidative notes, as known from dry sherries, but tastes much fresher and also has a lower alcohol content because it is not fortified. Vin Jaune is almost indestructible, it can easily last for decades.

The 2013 Château-Chalon from Domaine Berthet-Bondet is the estate's first vintage to be certified organic. It is one of the very best wines of this type. Parker's Wine Advocate has already awarded up to 96/100 points for previous vintages. It matures for 6 years in barrels under a layer of yeast. Only then is it bottled and sold. A storage time of 50+ years is not an issue if the conditions are right.
