94% of the Rioja Gran Reserva from Bodegas Lan comes from Tempranillo vines that are over 40 years old of the Rioja Alta and 6% Mazuelo vines from the Viña Lanciano vineyard in El Cortijo. The concentration and complexity of this wine comes from the low yields that the vines produce in traditional bush growing. Due to the long storage time of 24 months in French and American oak barriques and at least 36 months in the bottle, it is ready to drink when it is realeased.
2015 is considered an outstanding Rioja vintage with density, power, elegance and balance. The bouquet of this Gran Reserva features ripe red fruits, plum compote, cigar box, leather and some liquorice, as well as a slightly smoky note from the wooden barrels. On the palate it is full without being heavy, the structuring tannins are ripe, it is aromatically playful and always leaves you wanting more. Highly elegant, a stylistic mix of classic and modern, as is typical of Bodegas Lan. Can be stored even longer. It fits!
