With the simple number 904, which commemorates the merger of La Rioja Alta with Bodegas Ardanza in 1904, the winery labels one of its two Gran Reserva top wines. Vineyards with over 60-year-old vines are used for this blend, 90% is Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. The wine is aged for 4 years in used oak barrels, the aroma of new wood is not desirable.
2011 was an excellent vintage that met the quality requirements to release a 904 Gran Reserva. A classic Rioja with excitement, complexity and a great maturing potential. Unquestionably a great Rioja.
