In 2000, a monumental vintage port was made by Fonseca. It has everything to become a legend and it can compete with the biggest vintages of this wine. The opulent style of the Fonseca Port, in this warm and dry year, creates a tremendously powerful and juicy and complex vintage port that will impress even in its youth, but will develop true grandeur as it grows older.
Neil Martin tasted in 2009: "The millennial Fonseca is still a young pup. It has rich blackberry, cassis and liquorice-scented nose with a touch of saddle-leather, fruitcake and earth. The palate has sensuous entry, beautifully integrated tannins, seamless and caressing with blackberry, black olive compote, fig and a touch of damson jam. Lovely sense of natural balance and poise but yet to shed its puppy fat. Quintessential Fonseca really."
