The 1985 Fonseca Vintage Port is considered one of the best ports of the 1980s. The grapes were picked here in perfect condition before the rain that hit the region at the end of September. Even 35 years later, this wine is still youthful and inspires with strength and lively tannins, as well as an intense cherry fruit. You can easily trust it to mature for another 35 years.
Sarah Ahmend (Thewinededective) wrote about this wine in 2015: “An exceptionally long, controlled finish is quite magnificent. Wonderful back palate resonance. Terrific. "
Parker's Wine Advocate rates it 96-98 / 100, James Suckling awards 97/100.
