The Amarone dell Valpolicella Classico is the most important wine in the portfolio of the Zenato winery. It is responsible for the excellent reputation of the winery. 85% Corvina Veronese, 10% Rondinella, 5% Oseleta and Croatina are the grape varieties for this sublime and powerful wine, which grow on hillsides in the village of Sant'Ambrogio (important for good Amarone!). Sant'Ambrogio is located between the southeast end of Lake Garda and the city of Verona.

After the harvest, the grapes are dried for three to four months before being pressed and fermented. The later wine gets its extraordinary concentration through the evaporation of water during the drying period. After fermentation, the Zenato Amarone Classico spends 36 months in large oak barrels and then another time in the bottle before being delivered to customers. Good things take time.

The Zenato Amarone is a very long-lived wine, the winery states a possible storage time of between 15 and 20 years, depending on the vintage. Typical aromas of this Amarone are black cherries, mascara cherries, plums and dried fruits. On the palate it is impressively full and juicy, with great length and excellent balance. A wine for the fireplace evening, but of course also for intensive braised dishes.

The press reviews for the 2017 Zenato Amarone are more than impressive: 96/100 Decanter World Wine Award, 95/100 James Suckling and 94/ 100 from Falstaff magazine. Well done!
