In addition to the excellent white wines, the reds in particular caused a sensation and that far beyond the borders of Rheinhessen. The 2018 Pinot Noir Holle was awarded 99/100 points by the US wine critic James Suckling, who counts it among the very best Pinot Noirs in the world. The Thörles have established an elegant Pinot Noir style that avoids the excessive use of oak and the obtrusive, greasy roasted aromas that still characterize many German red wines.
