Thévenet, Charly - Beaujolais

Charly Thévenet, vintner in the fourth generation, produces wine in the Beaujolais Cru AOP Régnié , which he calls "Grain & Granite" (berry & granite). The up to 70 years old Gamay vines are grown naturally, without the use of artificial fertilizer and pesticides. The winery is currently in the conversion phase to organic farming.

Charly is supported by his father Jean-Paul, who sells the Morgon wine under his name until the year 2017 and then retires. Charly takes over the complete winery with the vintage 2018.
Charly produces Gamay with power, finesse and depth, that is rarely found in the Beaujolais. He fermets the wines exclusively with natural yeasts and does not filter them, and his wine contains only a minimal dose of sulfur. The maturing prior to bottling takes place in concrete tanks (50%) and 50% in burgundy tonneaux.
Charly's Régié and Morgon have a very good aging potential and a lot of depth, the tannin quality is wonderful. Somewhere these wines reminds of a Chambolle-Musigny. Beaujolais can mature well and belongs in the focus of wine lovers, if it is made like this. Great!
