Sette Ponti, Tenuta - Toskana

Tenuta Sette Ponti is located in the Chianti Classico area, but declares its Sangiovese wines as Rosso Toscana in order to enjoy more freedom in production. The name comes from the seven bridges that have to be crossed from Florence to Arezzo. The first modern wine was produced here in the late 1990s, when Antonio Moretti took over the estate from his father and focused on viticulture. He hired experts with the aim of producing top international wines here. Today one can say with certainty that the goal has been achieved, as the Sette Ponti wines are among the best that can be enjoyed from Tuscany. The reviews of well-known wine guides are impressively euphoric.

54 hectares of vines are planted with a lot of Sangiovese, plus Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and small quantities of other varieties, e.g. Trebbiano.

The Crognolo is a pure Sangiovese matured in barriques, the Oreno is a cuvée made from Bordeaux grape varieties that is in the top league of Tuscan noble plants.

The youngest possession by the Morettis is the Orma winery in Bolgheri, where Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are grown. The top wine of this estate is simply called "Orma", which means footprint. This great wine is powerful and rich in finesse at the same time, as the top growths from Bolgheri are famous for.
