Mas Janeil - Roussillon

Mas Janeil is a winery located in Tautavel in Roussillon. The landscape here is shaped by the foothills of the Pyrenees, and the area is relatively sparsely populated. Impressive castles bear witness to a glorious past. Francois Lurton's winery is located near the Chateau de Queribus in the Vallée d'Agly, known for its microclimate ideal for viticulture. The modern cellar was opened in 2011 to meet all the requirements for modern winemaking. The vines grow on all types of soil that characterize the area, slate, limestone, sand and gravel. 60% of the 24 hectares of vineyards are planted with partly very old Grenache Noir vines, 30% with Syrah. The remaining 10% is mostly Mourvedre and some Carignan. The Pas de la Mule with its brown slate soil is Mas Janeil's best single vineyard, which is developed separately and delivers the top cuvée of the estate. The entire wine production here is based on sustainability. Due to the dry vegetation periods and the ever-present light breeze of the sea, the vines are less susceptible to diseases.
