Domaine Belleville - Burgund

Domaine Belleville is based in Rully on the Côte Chalonnaise, but offers almost the entire spectrum of Burgundy wines, from Gevrey-Chambertin to Mercurey, first-class white and red wines. In 2017 Denise Dupré and Mark Nunnelly, two wine lovers from the US, and the former lawyer Jean-Luc Vitoux from Champagne, took over the winery. They switched to biodynamic farming, and Louis-Michel Liger-Belair is the oenological consultant. That signals: no half measures, because you can hardly find a better one. The goal is clearly defined, you want to be one of the very best wineries in southern Burgundy.

Jancis Robinson: "Domaine Belleville scores the top 4 scores across all Rully tasted – 3 white and one red – no other domaine scores 17 points for a Rully. In Mercurey, only 2 other domaines score 17 points (one got a 17+) in a total of 6 wines, 3 of which were Belleville. In Santenay, Domaine Belleville is the highest score of any Santenay."

The white wines are given 25% new barrels, the reds have all been in the wood, the proportion of new barrels here is between 25-35%. All wines are single vineyard bottlings, no cuvees are made here.
In addition to the company's own vineyards, there is also a negociant series called "Les Parcellaires de Saulx", which markets wines on the Côte d’Or. These are often extremely high in quality, the magazine Decanter awarded up to 96/100 for the 2018 collection.
The cherry on the cake is the Pommard top vineyard Clos de la Commaraine, which is marketed under its own domain name.
