Clos de MEZ is an ambitious Beaujolais winery with plots in Fleurie and Morgon. The maker of these great wines is Marie-Élodie Zighera (initials = MEZ) today after her marriage with the suffix "Confuron", yes, the Confurons from the Côte d'Or. Marie-Elodie has always wanted to make serious Beaujolais that are not inferior to great Pinot Noir Burgundies. To do this, she usually dispenses with the maceracion carbonique that is widespread in Beaujolais today and ferments her wines in the classic way, just like in the past when Beaujolais Crus still had an excellent reputation.
The result is incredibly exciting wines that have depth and aging potential, actually need a few years in the bottle to show their full potential. There are three wines: the Fleurie Mademoiselle M is the most charming version (partially maceration carbonique), the Fleurie Dot and Morgon Chateau Gaillard are structured Gamay -Wines that can lie for a long time and continue to refine. Let yourself be inspired, there are really great things to discover here.
