Château de Mayragues - Gaillac

The Château de Mayragues is not only a biodynamic winery in the Gaillac appellation in southwest France, but also a historic building, partly dating back to the 12th century, which also houses a hotel. An attractive destination, not just for wine tourists.

The region's traditional vines are grown on almost 13 hectares. The red wines consist of Fer Servadou, also known as Braucol, and Duras, as well as the national ones such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay and Syrah.

Loin de l'Oeil and Mauzac Blanc are used for the white wines. The entire winery has been cultivated biodynamically since 1999 and the wines are certified organic by Demeter/Ecocert (FR-BIO-01).

Gaillac is located in the southwest of France, north of the city of Toulouse. The clayey limestone soils, ideal for winegrowing, have not only the Atlantic influence but also some of the Mediterranean warmth of the Mediterranean.

This is exactly how the wines taste, they are usually a little softer than their counterparts from the southwest, but more structured than the wines from the Languedoc.

The Geddes family bought Château de Mayragues in 1980, when it was in a dilapidated state. With a lot of love and taste they restored the buildings and vineyards, so that today an exemplary and worth seeing estate has been created here.
