Ansitz Dolomytos - Alto Adige

All sorts of mysteries surround the Ansitz Dolomytos winery in the Isarco Valley. The estate was founded by wine professor Rainer Zierock, who once created the cult wine Granato together with his then wife Elisabetta Foaradori. Zierock planted around 150 different grape varieties on around three hectares, nobody knows for sure, he didn't leave any notes about it. Many of these are said to have come from Greece, as Zierock had a penchant for Greek mythology. Starting with the 2000 vintage, he vinified various wines from these varieties until his death in 2009. Not only did he leave vast amounts of wine, because the sale never seemed to interest him, but also a huge mountain of debt, which is why the rightful heirs declined with thanks.

In 2013, the oenologist Norbert Marginter bought the property at auction together with his unclear cellar treasure, because a lot of the wine was still stored in the cigar-shaped barrels that Zierock used or was bottled without a label. Norbert Marginter tried with difficulty to classify the wines and began to bring them onto the market. Today he continues to run the estate in the spirit and with the viticulture methods of his predecessor and presses wines in the same style. This is where high-class, unique wines are created that you won't find anywhere else.
