Jura white wine

The wine region of the Jura is located in eastern France, just a few kilometers east of Burgundy in Franche-Comté. Likewise, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are common, but there are also local grape varieties, of which the white Savagnin, allegedly a Traminer variety, even if it is not fragrant at all, plays the most important role. From Savagnin are the famous Vin Jaune, oxidative wines that are reminiscent of Sherry, but fresher and more lively. In addition to the oxidative wines, the Jura also produces excellent non-oxidative wine, and the Jura is one of the germ cells of the natural wine movement. The wines of the Jura have become cult objects of the wine scene. If you are looking for the unusual, off the mainstream, the Jura is the place to search for it. The white wines of the Jura are also first-class food companions. They almost always fit.
