The red Vacqueyras les Christins from the Famille Perrin consists of vines that are on average 50 years old of the Grenache Noir 75% and 25% Syrah varieties , which grow in stony terraced areas known as Dentelles de Montmirail.
The aging takes place in the traditional way in tanks and large wooden barrels, the Syrah also partly in barriques. Vacqueyras is always a good choice for us, in terms of quality this community is number three on the southern Rhône after Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas, but usually only costs half as much as a Chateauneuf. You can usually drink these wines young with a lot of enjoyment, but storing this wine for 10 years is no problem, or longer depending on the vintage characteristics.
2021 was an elegant vintage on the Rhône, the wines are characterized by a clear and fresh nature, have good body and are very stimulating. Stylistically, they are reminiscent of the cooler decades of the 1980s and 90s, but more precise and probably more durable.
This is how an exceptional Christins rouge from Perrin was created, smelling of cherries, chocolate, figs and a little violet, supple and with an enormous amount of extract, pressure and length. A really great Vacqueyras from an excellent vintage that will be enjoyed for a long time and will definitely be remembered for a long time.
