As a 17-year-old Johannes Landerer planted the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety in his parents' winery. Today, this exotic, aromatic variety is a visiting card of the winery. The Eichelmann wine guide rates the Landerer winery as an "excellent winery".
The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Oberrotweil, a local wine, grows on loess soils with weathered volcanic rock, which are often found in the Kaiserstuhl region. The must is fermented in steel tanks, partly spontaneously, partly with cultured yeasts, then the wine is stored on the fine lees for several months.
The Sauvignon Blanc Oberrotweil 2022 from the Landerer winery is reminiscent of grapefruit and green gooseberries, elderberry and paprika, it is immediately recognizable as a Sauvignon Blanc. On the palate it combines this aromatic exoticism with a lot of charm, the wine is open, relatively fruity and always animating and lively. The wine thrives on its expressive fruit, which is why we would rather drink it young than store it for a long time.
It is ideal as an aperitif, with Asian-inspired dishes that are not too spicy, vegetable casseroles, fish and seafood go just as well.
