From the charming Sandstone line, Ermelinda Freitas also has a Syrah or Shiraz, as it says on the label, which is probably due to the full and juicy style of this wine is, which can also be found in a similar form in Australia, but not at this low price.
The Sandstone Shiraz shines on the palate with its opulent fruit and the super-soft taste profile, in which the tannins are hardly noticeable. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine is stored in used wooden barrels for another four months, where it gets its finishing touches. It has a dark ruby red colour, the fragrance is open and concentrated, showing notes of dried herbs and ripe red and dark berries. The semi-dry taste is reminiscent of wines from southern Italy, such as Primitivo, which made this style of red wine popular.
Ermelina's Sandstone Shiraz is an excellent party wine, we would serve it as a dining companion to buffets, pasta, pizza and meat from the grill or from the pan.
