The Sancerre vineyard Bellechaume is undoubtedly one of the largest terroirs in the growing area. Its special feature is the windy and cool position on the best calcareous soil, which means that the ripening of the grapes is delayed for a long time and a lot of aroma can be formed as a result. The wind on the Bellechaume crest prevents rot, which allows the berries to ripen to perfection for a long time.

This location results in wines that not only can be stored for a long time, but actually need this storage, as they tend to be repellent and withdrawn when young. This is why this wine is only released late at the Domaine de Terres Blanches, as soon as it reveals its full potential. This high-quality grape material is harvested exclusively by hand. After fermentation, part of the wine is fermented in barrels, while the other part ferments in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on the lees for 10 months, with 10-15% of the wine aging in small barrels and the rest in vats. This finely tuned aging process results in a Sancerre that is both complex and aromatic, as one would expect from a top Loire Sauvignon Blanc, the wine combining freshness and substance in a grandiose way.

2016 is an excellent Loire vintage, elegance and depth combined with ripe fruit, the wines have richness and a dashing minerality. The Sancerre Bellechaume shows white fruits and citrus fruits in its aroma spectrum. The subtle style and the long finish with a lot of draft impressed. The wine is delicate, persistent and crystal clear.
