Antoine de la Farge is now also producing wine in Reuilly. This emerging designation of origin received AOC status as early as 1937, but flew under the radar of Sauvignon Blanc lovers for a long time. Since Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé are becoming more and more expensive, the smaller Rand appellations are very popular.
Reuilly is about an hour's drive west of Sancerre, and the white wines there are made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc. The approximately 200 hectares of vines grow on limestone soils with sandy deposits that give the wine a cool and mineral character.
Antoine de la Farge's Reuilly has a light yellow color with greenish tinges. The expansive scent is very typical of a Loire Sauvignon and is reminiscent of ripe citrus fruits, gooseberries, cassis and a hint of tropical fruits, which is probably due to the warm year 2022. In the mouth, this elegant white wine inspires with its freshness and clarity, with all the grip it is well balanced in its long-lasting finish.
An ideal partner for fish and seafood, vegetable casseroles or risotto with green asparagus also go very well. This Reuilly also shines as a soloist on the summer terrace or as an aperitif.
