The name Redmont derives from the barren red gravel soil on the slopes where this beautiful red wine grows. They provide the finesse and structure in this wine, which has developed excellently in the bottle for a long time.
The Markowitsch Redmont in the 2020 vintage consists of 55% Zweigelt, supplemented with 25% Merlot and 20% Blaufränkisch. After being harvested by hand, the wine is fermented spontaneously, i.e. without the addition of fermentation yeasts, and then stored for eighteen months in French barriques.
The great ripeness of the grapes of the excellent 2020 vintage gives the Redmont a special fullness, but the wine also has great freshness, a characteristic feature of this year. The wine has aromas of ripe dark berries, a fine note of vanilla, cocoa and cherries. On the palate it has power and tension, but on the other hand it is also very charming, which makes it almost irresistible even when young. Nevertheless, this wine will also mature excellently and increase in aromatic complexity.
Try the Markowitsch Redmont with game and red meat, especially lamb!
