Utiel Requena

The wine-growing region Utiel-Requena is located in the east of Spain, in the Valencia region. It is about 70 kilometers from the Mediterranean coast and borders the region of Castile-La Mancha.

The area is known for its continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 600 to 1,100 meters above sea level, which ensures a certain coolness. The soils in Utiel-Requena are mainly calcareous and sandy, which gives the wines a special minerality.

The most important red grape variety in Utiel-Requena is Bobal, which accounts for about 80% of the total vineyard area. In addition, other Mediterranean varieties such as Monastrell and immigrant vines play a good role in terms of quality.

Utiel-Requena is an up-and-coming wine region that has become increasingly important in recent years. The wines from Utiel-Requena are generally very inexpensive and offer an outstanding price-enjoyment ratio.
