Spain

Spain has the largest vineyard area in the world, but due to the warm and dry climate, Spain is only ranked third in the total wine production in volume. Although 50% of the area is planted with white vines, Spain is more famous to be a red wine producing country, because the most famous Spanish wines are red wines. Especially the Rioja and the Ribera del Duero are known from the international point of view, but great wines come also from other areas such as the Priorat, Navarra or the Toro. To this end, Spain supplies a large number of excellent everyday wines at very competitive prices, with areas such as Carinena, la Mancha and the South-East with its characteristic Monastrell wines.
Today, the Tempranillo is the most cultivated red vine, it has thrust the Garnacha from the throne in recent years.
