Veneto is one of the most important wine-growing regions in Italy with its vast vineyard area of 75,000 hectares. There are important red wines from the region, in first place the Amarone di Valpolicella , which is made from dried grapes. Other important reference names for red wines are the Bardolino and the Valpolicella. Among the native red grapes are Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara. French varieties such as the Cabernets and Merlot have long been cultivated here and are gaining in importance.

The ammount of different wine styles in the Veneto region is enormous. From the very powerful and rich in alcohol Amarone, to the emphasized light and fruity Bardolino with low color density everything is possible. Even sweet red wines are produced, like the Recioto della Valpolicella.
