When you think of champagne, the image of a dark green champagne bottle with a gold-foiled neck pops into your head. There is a specific reason for this. This particular bottle is the Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial Champagne. The company Moët & Chandon is undoubtedly the most famous Champagne personality in the world. On the one hand, this is thanks to products such as the Brut Imperial and the Moët Rose. And on the other hand its long history, which began in 1743. The high quality of Moët & Chandon products that contain over 250 know-how.

A year before the champagne house was officially founded, Claude Moët began exporting wine from Champagne to Paris. When he then bought the former Hautvillers monastery, where the champagne production technology had been refined, he expanded his scope of supply to Europe and the United States. The company expanded again in 1792, when the grandson of the founder Jean-Remy Moët established the headquarters in Champagne, which still exists today.

At this early stage of the company, great successes were already being celebrated. Moët became a purveyor to the chamber and court of noble and royal houses. They owed this to their seat in Epernay, where many of the good houses had a summer residence. On the other hand, you can assign it to a specific person. Napoleon Bonaparte was a big fan of the house's sparkling wine. On his victorious journeys to the East he always carried a supply of the champagne with him. To ensure this, he usually included a stop in Epernay in his routes. Due to the already high reputation at the time and the imperial lover of champagne, the champagne earned the historical name Imperial, which also literally means imperial.

In 1860, what is now the best-selling and most popular champagne was made by Moët & Chandon introduced the Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial. This is created from three grape varieties. The body of the champagne, which consists of 30 to 40 percent Pinot Noir, is responsible for the balance of the champagne. The 30 to 40 percent proportion of Meunier gives the Brut Imperial its suppleness and the finesse of Champagne, consisting of 20 to 30 percent Chardonnay. This perfect assemblage of sparkling wine impresses not only with its elegant gold-colored exterior, but also with its intense and fruity nose, with nuances of apple, citrus, white flowers, brioche, grain and fresh nuts. This number of notes in no way makes you feel harsh on the palate, unlike the Moët & Chandon Brut Imperial knows how to show its strengths subtly and gracefully. It is not without reason that it is so well-known and popular and that is why everyone should try it.
