The Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato is from the oldest vineyards of the Podere Massoni winery. These are also harvested very late, so that a particularly high degree of ripeness is achieved. The expansion then takes place 70% in wooden barrels of various sizes and 30% in tanks. The former gives this wine a fine oak tone, which gives it noblesse and complexity. This high-end Lugana is even slightly reminiscent of a white Burgundy in terms of aroma, but is much more fruity and softer in style.
The Decanter magazine gave the 2019 Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato 93/100 points, praising it as excellent and putting the concentration through the low yield, the minerality and the intense Final to the front.
The Falstaff magazine is also on 93/100. Quote: "Sparkling, light golden yellow. Elegant nose, shows notes of ripe peaches and citrus fruits, then spicy vanilla nuances from the wood aging, noble hazelnut. Melty and mouth-filling on the palate, juicy with well-integrated acidity, nice train and fine fruity finale, long and elegant ." Tasted in May 2022.
