Le Volte dell'Ornellaia can be described as the Ornellaia for every day. Due to its high proportion of the soft Merlot grape variety, it is ready to drink immediately after bottling. Of course, the consistent quality philosophy of the winery also applies here, only healthy and twice selected grapes find their way into this wine. Part of the Le Volte is stored in used Ornellaia barriques, the other in cement tanks before the final cuvée is composed.
The winemaker of Le Volte describes the 2020 as follows: "Le Volte dell' Ornellaia 2020 shines in ruby red with purple reflections and is characterized by vinous aromas on the nose: it unfolds a complex fragrance profile that combines berries, Mediterranean scrub and fine tobacco and spice notes. Its soft and silky mouthfeel is supported by a lively acidity that gives us a crisp, long finish."
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate awards 90/100 and praises the fragrance of cherries, cassis, plums and cardamom. James Suckling even scores 93/100 and is drawn to the Mediterranean flavors of the 2020 vintage.
