The La Guita from the Hijos de Rainera Perez Marin winery (what a name..) is a top brand sherry of the Manzanilla type, which is the freshest and saltiest of the dry Jerez wines. Manzanilla is light-colored and surprisingly fresh for Sherry, in southern Spain it is even served as a normal food accompaniment, for example with sardines. La Guita is made from 100% Palomino grapes grown in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The light golden yellow color makes a fresh impression and this is also reflected in the nose. The wine has an elegant scent, one thinks of aromas such as apples and figs, in combination with a delicate sherry-typical oxidation. The taste is dry and pleasantly salty, it gives the impression of a Mediterranean sea breeze and again it is realy fresh for a sherry. Manzanilla is often served as a summer aperitif, but it also tastes excellent with tapas, Serrano ham, crustaceans, sardines and much more. Once opened, the bottle should be drunk within 3 weeks.
