Jean Loron is a company with a long tradition, founded in 1711. Located in the middle of the Beaujolais, a specialty of the house is of course the fresh, fruity Gamay grape, which is native to this area.
The Jean Gamay Noir is a selection of different vineyards from the granite soils of southern Burgundy, just outside the city of Lyon. This red grape variety thrives here. After fermentation, the wine spends a long time in the tank on the fine lees to give it structure and complexity. This cuvée suitable for everyday use is dedicated to the founder Jean Loron and is something like the wine company's calling card.
This Gamay perfectly expresses the characteristics of this "happy" grape variety: accessible, fruity, fresh, soft tannins, lots of charm. The aromas are reminiscent of blackberries, blueberries, herbs and a hint of liquorice. On the palate it is fruity and smooth, an ideal partner for many dishes and larger groups, as it has no rough edges. You can also enjoy it cold in the cellar in summer.
