The "Bordeaux-Blend" Istante by Franz Haas is the premium cuvée, which mainly consists of the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, plus smaller proportions Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The varieties are therefore identical to those in Bordeaux, but the weighting is different due to the high proportion of Petit Verdot. In addition, there is the alpine climate, which gives the wine its completely unique character. The ripening lasted eighteen months in barriques. In order to find its harmony, the Istante remains in the bottle for a year after bottling before it is delivered from the winery to the customer.
The 2020 Istante has a bright garnet red color with a dark core. Its bouquet is reminiscent of ripe dark berries, plums, vanilla and a hint of green tea. Its elegant tannins and cool finesse stand out on the palate, the wine has a fresh structure and clear fruit, everything ends in a magnificent and long finish. The Istante by Franz Haas Istante is certainly one of the best red wines in all of Northern Italy.
