This incredibly tasty everyday Veltliner by Gerhard Markowitsch from the very good vintage 2022 in Austria sets standards for a basic wine. Extract, density and freshness combine here in perfect form. The wine has charm, but also bite and an amazing power for this price range, and yes, the "Veltliner-Pefferl" is not missing either.
By the way, Markowitsch only harvests this wine by hand in order to get the best quality in the bottle. You can feel that with the first sip, the wine has real class. We also like the low residual sugar content of only 1.2 g/l, which is really dry, which unfortunately has become rare these days. Despite this - or perhaps because of this - the Veltliner from Markowitsch is pleasant and harmonious.
In culinary terms, it is a real all-rounder, fish, cold dishes (snack board), pasta dishes, summery salads or Wiener Schnitzel go well with everything here. Also ideal to enjoy as a fresh aperitif. It's just fun.
