Pinot Noir/Spätburgunder

Pinot Noir (Pinot Nero, Spatburgunder) is one of the noblest red grapes. A total of 87,000 ha are planted around the world, which means 10th place of all grape varieties. His home is Burgundy, from which it came to the surrounding cultivation areas in France and to Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as to the Champagne region. The Pinot Noir is very demanding , it needs the best vineyards in a rather cool climate . It doesn't like hot climates and gets clumsily and jamily there. His whole grace, which is in its fine structure, freshness and elegance, is lost in too warm regions.
Pinot Noir is not a color-intensive red wine, but this should not tempt you to think it is light in taste and alcohol. By almost countless different clones and by the highest demands on the vineyard and the skill of the winemaker, the Pinot noir has a rather inconsistent quality level. it acknowledges negligence in the care of the vineyards and in the cellar with miserable qualities. But when everything goes perfectly, a Pinot Noir is the heaven on earth . In addition to the renowned Burgundian communities, such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée etc., German Pinots have also reached a very high level and often represent a qualitative competition with their French counterparts.
