Chardonnay

Chardonnay belongs to the Pinot family and is probably the most famous white grape variety in the world. It has its origin in Burgundy, France, from where it has spread all over the world. Today it is at fifth palce in the list of the most cultivated vines worldwide.

The Burgundian Chardonnay (ie Chablis, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassassagne-, Meursault) was and is an ideal for the taste of this grape worldwide. Ideally, the Chardonnay is a full-bodied white wine that combines power and elegance, like hardly any other white vine. It is perfect for the ageing in small wooden barrels, but also tastes well without wood contact. Chardonnay can be one of the longest lasting dry white wines in the world. Young Chardonnay often have aromas of butter and cream, with maturity developing notes reminiscent of straw and nuts. In Champagne, the Chardonnay also plays an important role.
