With 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir, the Graham Beck Method Cap Classique Rosé consists of almost the same vine composition as its white brother, except that the Pinot Noir is left longer on the skins during fermentation so that it acquires a delicate rosé color and also a very light tannin structure.
The grapes come from the Western Cape region in South Africa, which is ideal for the production of sparkling wine because of its rather cool climate and the Burgundy varieties also feel very well here. Some of the grapes come from Graham Beck's vineyards, the rest come from vineyards owned by contract winegrowers who work according to the same quality philosophy. The hand-picked grapes are then processed at Graham Beck's winery in Robertson.
The Graham Beck Rosé Brut has a fine mousseux, its scent is reminiscent of brioche, lavender, red berries and cherries. It is full and well balanced on the palate, showing charm and a long finish.
James Suckling rates the Grahame Beck Rosé Brut with 89/100, Tim Atkin even with 93/100.
