The red wine deAetna from Terra Costantino consists of the Sicilian grape varieties Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappucino, whose vines have an average age of about 45 years. The vines are on volcanic soil at an altitude of 450 to 550 meters above sea level. This ensures cooler temperatures and thus a more intensive aroma development in the berries.
It is usually only harvested in October, which is very late for Sicily and of course by hand, in order to bring the best quality into the cellar. After fermentation, the deAetna Rosso is stored in medium-sized wooden barrels and steel tanks. After bottling, it is given a further time in the bottle before it is sold. Terre Costantino takes its time with traditional winemaking.
The deAetna Rosso by Terra Costantino has a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The scent is reminiscent of ripe red fruits, with a hint of violets and cinnamon, black pepper and Mediterranean herbs can also be discovered. It is full on the palate and has soft tannins, the fruit is juicy and pulls pleasantly into the long-lasting finale. A superb red Sicilian without the heaviness of many southern wines.
