The Saint Emilion Grand Cru Château la Croizille has been owned by the de Schepper family since 1996. Since the 1999 vintage, the wine has been developed as an ultra-premium selection, strict selection of the grapes, 100% new barrels and a low yield lead to a concentrated but never lush wine that is one of the best wines in the growing area. Since it is not distributed through the major retailers in Bordeaux, it is still an insider tip, although the wine was in the TOP 3 in a tasting by Decanter magazine for the 2005 vintage with the assembled Saint-Emilion elite and rated 19.5/20 points.

Château la Croizille is in the best location in the immediate vicinity of the top chateaux Troplong-Mondot, la Mondotte and Tertre-Rotheboeuf. In addition, la Croizille has the only terraced location in all of Bordeaux. The newly created futuristic building is a real eye-catcher in the architecturally rather conservative Bordeaux and is also open to visitors. From the 2022 vintage, la Croizille will be a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé.

The 2016 vintage is one of the so-called century vintages. It combines volume and juiciness with a fresh tannin structure. Of course, under these ideal conditions at Chateau la Croizille, a truly great wine with a storage potential of several decades was created. Now, in 2023, the 2016 Chateau la Croizille is beginning to open up, revealing all the delicacy that was previously hidden behind a wall of plenty of ripe tannins. With all its density, this wine literally floats over the palate, an attribute that only the greats of their guild are able to achieve. A fantastically beautiful Saint-Emilion in a classic style, far away from the Merlot jams on the right bank of Bordeaux that are unfortunately so common today.
