The rote Cuvée Aufwind by Thomas Hensel consists of the unusual but very well harmonizing combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sankt Laurent grapes. The majority ferments and is stored in steel tanks, 10% comes in used barrels.
The Weingut Hensel can make wine, you can tell that right away. The Cabernet gives the wine a certain note of paprika, and the aroma of this wine is reminiscent of smoked bacon, cherries and blueberries. The Aufwind Cuvee has a good fullness and substance, as well as a lot of fruity charm and a friendly, soft style, all around supple, as is typical for the wines from this house.
The juicy nature makes this wine an ideal partner for BBQ, pizza and pasta, and a good burger with fries also goes well here. The dish should be as uncomplicated as the wine.
