The Coteaux du Giennois lies north of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé and, like its two famous neighbours, is a stronghold of Sauvignon Blanc. Despite their excellent quality, these wines are still rare outside France.
The Domaine de Terres Blanches, belonging to the Saget la Perriere family, has 13 hectares of white vines growing on terraced sites with clay soils in the commune of Bonny sur Loire. The must is fermented under temperature control and then stored on the fine lees for 4-6 months before the wine is bottled. The result is an emphatically fresh and aromatically "cool" Sauvignon Blanc that could hardly be more typical of the Loire. This Coteaux du Giennois has engaging aromas of cassis, flowers and white fruits. It is lively, elegant and long-lasting on the palate, while being completely consistent and also remarkably inexpensive! This wine is made with the same care and method as the house Sancerre wines.
An ideal accompaniment to fish and seafood, goat cheese, vegetable dishes or tarts.
