The Banyuls Grand Cru Christian Reynal is the top product of the Cave de l'Abbé Rous. It grows on steep slate terraces that slope down to the Mediterranean Sea. For this cuvée, old Grenache Noir vines are selected in the best locations, which result in a particularly intense and complex wine.

The yields on the barren slate soils are very low at just 20 hl/ha, as the grapes are harvested slightly dried on the vine. After stopping the fermentation with brandy to preserve the sweetness of the fruit, the Christian Reynal Banyuls spends eight years in wooden barrels of various sizes before it is bottled. That happened with the 2002 vintage in June 2011.

The long maturing period has shaped the colour, mahogany in the middle and copper-colored on the edges. The scent contains aromas of chocolate, freshly roasted coffee, caramel, cinnamon, dried fruits such as dates and ripe dark berries. It is very voluminous and intense on the palate, the juicy sweetness and enormous length are impressive. Many aromas of the fragrance can be found in the playful finale.

You can now drink the Christian Reynal Banyuls Grand Cru 2002 with great pleasure, but you can also leave it in the cellar for almost forever.
