Due to the ripe grapes, 2014 was particularly suitable for an extra brut vintage champagne. At Doyard-Mahé, this excellent champagne was allowed to mature on the lees in the bottle for five years before being disgorged and made ready for sale. The long storage time on the yeast increases the complexity.

The grapes for this vintage champagne come from Vertus, where Carol Doyard owns her 6 hectares of vineyards. The sub-region is the Côte de Blancs, where the Chardonnay grape variety finds the best conditions on the typical chalky soil. Therefore, the Millesime bottlings at Dohard-Mayé are actually always 100% from this noble white wine variety.

The Extra Brut 1er Cru 2014 smells of hay, white flowers and white fruits. On the palate, the fine perlage and the long and balanced finish are striking. The Extra Brut is very stimulating, refreshing and aromatically very versatile. A great champagne from a small family winery. Ideal for people who like it extra dry.

Sample Frank Rembold March 2023: wonderful nose of yeast and nuts. On the palate with a tremendously stimulating acidity that finely marbles this full-bodied champagne. Long finale, intense and really good. Im impressed.
