2009 Champagne Mailly Grand Cru Les Echansons 0,75l

The Echanson Grand Cru is the prestige cuvée of Champagne Mailly. Here, too, the grape variety Pinot Noir dominates with 75%, with Chardonnay accounting for the remaining quarter. It thus reflects the grape variety ratios of the entire winery with its more than seventy hectares.

"Echanson" was the name of the court servant at the French royal court who served the wine at the king's table. He was also responsible for the selection in the royal wine cellar. In a way, the forerunner of today's sommeliers. This top cuvée from Mailly is still made for special moments today, fortunately also for households that are not blue-blooded.

This sublime champagne is complete in itself. The playful bouquet is reminiscent of yeast pastries, ripe white fruits, citrus fruits and nuts. The Mailly Champagne les Échanson Grand Cru is only produced in the best vintages, like 2009 was. The warm daytime temperatures in August were offset by cool nights, resulting in perfect aroma formation in the berries. The result was powerful and full-bodied champagnes that never lacked freshness.

Champagne Mailly is content with a dosage of six grams for the Echansons, which is also completely sufficient. This extract-rich and juicy champagne needs hardly any dosage to achieve the best balance.
