Champagne Mailly Grand Cru Brut Reserve 6l

The town of Mailly is an area classified as Grand Cru in 1920. The history of the equally named champagne house began in that municipality, which is 13 kilometers south of Reims.

However, at the beginning only as a cooperative, which arose from ten winegrowers. Their goal was to resell the excess harvest and the clear wine it produced to champagne houses. The excess harvest was a result of the First World War and the resulting economic crisis. Despite the growth of the winegrowers' cooperative, the hoped-for profit did not materialize. The marketing of the sparkling wine produced as champagne was also unsuccessful. The 3,600 bottles that had been produced up to that point only found a buyer after eighteen more profitless months. Although the network of winegrowers had finally made a profit and were unsure about the additional course of distribution, they reinvested their profit in the additional production. The cooperative gradually developed into a real champagne house. In order to be able to store the reinvested further production and the resulting growing production volume, the company's storage facility was further excavated by the members themselves. Modern buildings were erected and expanded. Today, around eighty people distribute and produce the 500,000 bottles of Mailly champagne produced annually.

Champagne Mailly Grand Cru Brut Reserve is versatile and therefore works perfectly as an aperitif. In contrast to other sparkling wines, this unique champagne can also be used as a companion in a complete menu, as it elegantly combines rich and complex components. The golden yellow Grand Cru of the Mailly champagne house not only impresses visually in terms of its reflections and its perlage, it is also a pleasure on the nose and on the palate.
