Gran Selezione has been the highest quality category of the Chianti Classico DOCG since the 2010 vintage, placed above the Riserva. It provides for a minimum storage period of 30 months and may only be made from the winery's own grapes.

Casa Emma uses only the best Sangiovese grapes of a vintage for their Gran Selezione, grown on rocky limestone soil with clay, on slopes at a remarkable altitude of 480 meters, what gives the wine a relatively cool aroma and a fine structure. The expansion takes place over a long period of 36 months in 1000 liter wooden barrels. Casa Emma states that this top wine can be stored for twenty years.

The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Casa Emma is characterized by a lively and versatile bouquet reminiscent of ripe blueberries and blackberries, chocolate, herbs and balsamic notes. On the palate it has a nice grip and structure due to its fine tannins, which will give this sublime wine a long life. The aromas of the bouquet are reflected in the long aftertaste.
