The Portuguese part of the Douro Valley harbors a unique treasure of native grape varieties. In Cedro do Noval Branco there are varieties that even connoisseurs have rarely if ever heard of. Viosinho, probably a Savagnin relative that makes aromatic wines with aging potential, accounts for the largest part at almost half, along with Gouveio, Rabigato; Fernão Pires, Códega de Larinho and Arinto, which is known, among other things, from Vinho Verde.
This delicious white wine is matured to 20% in barriques, of which 16% are new. This gives the Cedro do Noval a subtle but noticeable wood note, which perfectly complements the fruit aromas. In order to preserve the freshness of the wine in this very warm region, biological acid degradation is prevented.
Carlos Agrellos, technical director of Quinta do Noval describes the 2022 Cedro Branco as follows: "it presents a very fresh nose with intense floral notes and fruits of white pulp. Citrus notes and cistus resin contribute to the complexity. Very elegant on the palate with balance and balance. Lively freshness and good acidity give the wine a long and intense finish."
