As a reminiscence to the founder of Steenberg, this red wine cuvée today bears her first name: Catharina. Merlot and Cabernet play the leading roles, along with small amounts of Malbec and Peiti Verdot. The wine is matured for 15 months in over 80% new barriques, which leads to an intense wood tone. Perhaps this is no longer the very modern style of winemaking, but there are enough wine lovers who like it just as much. On the palate, the wine is full and rich in extracts, with notes of cassis, plum, cinnamon and ripe black cherries in the long finish. Impressive!
