Thomas and Frank Pfaffmann from the winery Wageck have a passion for Burgundy grapes with its cool finesse and therefore planted only Burgundy clones for their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the vineyards of the North Palatinate communities of Bissersheim and Großkarlbach. 60% of the surface is planted with Burgundy varieties, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc also play an important role. From the "Tertiary" line, the wines are fermented spontaneously (without the addition of selected yeasts) in order to sharpen the expression of the terroir and to develop a distinctive character. This is where great wines are produced, which are the absolute top class of Germany. On the calcareous soils of the winery, mineral wines are produced, which are emphasized dry. The Wageck wines therefore need time to show their full glory. There is no superficial fruit charm here, but real depth and complexity.
